The Technomelt 8707 hotmelt technology creates pressure-sensitive labels that are said to stick for a longer duration on premium personal care products and adhere to the 'tough requirements' of the consumer.
With packaging becoming a key driver in the purchasing of cosmetic and personal care products, consumers are increasing seeking longer lasting aesthetics that provide both functionality and durability.
Using its new technology, Henkel has created adhesives for products that require the 'no label' look. These are said to sustain advanced stresses that squeezable products such as shower gels, shampoos, and styling products go through - made to fit difficult surfaces such as PE and PP bottles.
The technology allegedly gives the labels dimensional stability with powerful adhesion, and claims to show no signs of detachment from the product even after constant use and daily wear and tear in wet environments, with better moisture resistance.
Indeed, the labelling concept has been pitted as having an advantage over competing acrylate dispersions following extensive tests. The acrylate adhesives showed detachment from the product after 30 to 50 squeezes, however, the technomelt technology allegedly held for double the time period.
The tests were said to show how the new technology allows for a more sustainable and reliable labelling system that will be beneficial to premium end personal care manufacturers seeking new and innovative ways to upgrade packaging concepts to lure in more consumers.
