Employees at RPC Beauty packaging factory on strike

Last updated on 10-Mar-2010 at 17:27 GMT

Plans to cut jobs at plastic packaging firm RPC’s beauty packaging factory in Marolles-les-Braults, France, have resulted in four days of strikes at the facility.

According to the company, job cuts at Marolles-les-Braults, which were announced last month, are in response to ‘continued subdued demand’ in the cosmetics sector.

Workers went on strike at the end of last week, and according to local news reports, the police were called yesterday as striking employees refused to let the company factory director leave the site.

The company are proposing to cut about 60 of the 260 jobs at the site.
