Packaging company Cospack America has introduced its Lucerne airless dispensing pen to meet specific market requirements.
The airless dispenser is designed to facilitate the application of spot treatment products and enables the user to control the amount of product output.
“The major influence in developing Lucerne is that there are product segments out in the market that are not suitable to be used with the regular airless bottle,” David Hou, sales and marketing director at Cospack, told CosmeticsDesign.com USA.
He then explained that products that require spot treatments need a dispenser that can focus on a small area on the face as well as output control with most airless dispensers not specifically designed for that purpose.
“We have had a real positive response from our clients on the Lucerne airless since its introduction,” he said.
Allows localized application
The nature of spot or wrinkle treatment products often requires a localized application in small amounts.
Hou says that Lucerne's design allows for a direct application onto the area and controls the amount of product to be dispensed thus minimizing waste.
Airless packaging is popular with the cosmetics industry as it can be used with the most viscous of formulations and allows the consumer to get out more than 95 per cent of the product.
“Airless dispensers are one of our most popular types of packaging. It has gained a general acceptance in the marketplace and is no longer being used on just the premium. One can see many airless dispensers in mass distribution products sold through drug store chain,” Hou said.
According to the packaging firm, companies have realized that consumers are looking to get maximum use from their purchase and an airless package will minimize the product residuals in the container.
Lucerne is made from polypropylene and is available in 10, 15 and 18ml sizes.
