CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com caught up with Kline’s Nikola Matic at in-cosmetics in Barcelona last month to find out what opportunities are out there for speciality actives in the skin care market.

The project manager presented the major trends of the ingredients market to industry professionals, focusing on speciality actives and its potential for growth.

Here, Matic reveals that demand for natural inspired products from the consumer and the formulator is driving the segment; “The trends are interconnected, on the finished product side, people are looking for natural (green) inspired products and formulators will be looking for green ingredients.”

The project manager also points out that demand for multifunctional products is on the rise in areas like sun care where products are now starting to offer anti-ageing properties as well as its traditional functionalities to the consumer.

Finally, Matic says the industry will see speciality actives at a growth rate of 5 per cent per year in Europe “which will be great potential for suppliers.”
