As recent market research perceives the United Arab Emirates cosmetics market as reaching as high as €104 million (Dh 514 million) by 2014, caviar is also noted as gaining momentum as a key skin care ingredient.

The study carried out by Seagull, a global specialist cosmetics firm reveals that the organic cosmetics industry in the country witnessed a growth of 30 per cent in 2012 and that the use of caviar as beauty aid is on the rise on a global scale.

Changing perceptions

According to the firm's Ratiba Ayad, caviar is being increasingly regarded as a key beauty treatment enhancer in skin and hair treatments, reminiscent to that of Botox treatments when they were first discovered.

“It empowers body cells and protects them from flabbiness and aging. It is also beneficial in treating dark circles around the eyes,” he explains.

Seagull's study goes on to illustrate the effects of caviar through fatty acids ‘Omega 3’ whereby it contributes to tightening the skin by providing cohesion, nutrition and vitamins whilst also helping to develop the skin’s natural defense antioxidant and improve moisture barrier.

Building momentum..

Ayad further notes that recent studies like that of Seagull’s has changed the perception amongst various cosmetics companies and some have started considering caviar as a key element for formulations.

The study also reckoned that eating fish, sea fruits and caviar are very beneficial to the skin, serving as a definite shield against early skin aging.

On the back of the research, Ayad recently attended the launch of 'Perle & Caviar', a brand of french based firm 'Laboratories Institut Arnaud' who recently developed skin care ranges featuring extracts of cultured pearl and caviar, whereby he anticipated that the line is an example of “a revolutionary solution in the skin care industry.

More launches

Leading German beauty products supplier Artdeco also recently launched its own line of skincare products based on caviar extract, which it noted as promoting the communication between cells and skin.

It's 'Caviar Essentials' line is described as intensive skincare creams featuring caviar extract, vitamins, minerals and trace elements which stimulate the skin's metabolism.
