'Toxic' shampoo kills fish and gets journalist into hot water

Last updated on 02-Jun-2009 at 12:04 GMT2009-06-02T12:04:46Z

'Shampoo contains toxic chemicals' was the hypothesis Danish journalist Lisbeth Kloester wanted to prove when she added an anti-dandruff product to a tank full of fish on live TV.

Within four days 12 of the 13 fish in the tank were dead, according to BBC news.

However, the reporter was taken to court for causing unnecessary cruelty to animals, after a complaint from a viewer of the show that aired in 2004.

Kloester was found guilty late last month but the judge decided the case had taken too long to come to trial and therefore did not to impose a sentence.
