Univar is looking to expand its personal care business by signing an agreement with chemical manufacturer Huntsman to distribute its surfactants in the Middle East and North Africa.
The two chemical companies have worked together before across many countries in Western Europe for many years, and Belgium-based Univar is pleased to have agreed this extension.
Opportunity to further expand
“We are very pleased to be able to offer Huntsman’s broad portfolio and strong brands in these growing markets, and we are looking forward to making the most of this opportunity to further expand our Univar Household and Industrial Cleaning and Personal Care businesses,” said Nicolas Lehmann, vice president of Supplier and Product Management EMEA at Univar.
Over the last few months Univar has established legal entities in the Middle East and North Africa, and is hoping this development will demonstrate its commitment to continually grow its personal care and industrial cleaning businesses.
Key to strategy
The specialty chemical distributor says this is key to its strategy and with this range of Huntsman’s surfactants sold primarily to these markets too, Univar believes it will compliment its existing portfolio.
Huntsman also sees the benefits of continuing its relationship with Univar particularly in emerging markets.
Giuseppe Asinari, EMEA manager for Huntsman Performance Products Agents and Distribution said: "We are delighted to start cooperation with Univar in these emerging markets and we strongly believe that their knowledge of the Homecare, Personal & Body Care industries in the region, together with their local presence, will be of mutual benefit for our business relationship.”
“Huntsman Performance Products has a long and successful relationship with Univar and we are looking forward to broadening the scope of our partnership. We are confident that our extensive surfactants product offering will better penetrate these growing markets by working together with Univar,” he added.
