Italian fashion house Gucci says it considering a launch into the world of cosmetics with a newly created high-end make-up range.
The new range is already in the early stages of development, having been conceptualised as far as the packaging, the company’s creative director, Frida Giannini, told the UK-based Sunday Times Style magazine.
When asked about launching into colour cosmetics, Giannini said in the interview: “I would love to. We are discussing plans and we will see. I already have the packaging I want in my mind.”
Despite the global economic gloom, Gucci seems to have been one of the luxury brands that has remained relatively untouched by consumers shying away from luxury purchases.
Last year the company had a turnover of nearly €8m and climbed to 45th position in Business Week’s annual brand evaluation chart.
