And the finalists for the Sustainable Beauty Awards are…

The first ever Sustainable Beauty Awards are set to take place in Paris at the end of this month, and organiser Organic Monitor has now announced the finalists.

The company says that it received ‘an overwhelming response to the call for nominations’, which included more than 100 award entries from companies in Europe, North & Latin America, Asia, Australasia and Africa.

 

The judges have now sorted through all the entries and has announced three entries for each of the five categories, which include packaging, ingredients and green formulations, as well as identifying pioneering qualities and leadership initiatives

Here are the three entries for each of the five categories, together with Organic Monitor’s criteria for the entries:

Sustainability Pioneer Finalists:​ Apivita, L’OrealUSA – Garnier, Primavera Life

The sustainability pioneer award is given to a cosmetic or ingredient firm that is a leader / pioneer in some aspect of sustainability.

 

Sustainability Leadership Finalists:​ Firmenich, Laboratoires Expanscience, Weleda

This award is given to a cosmetics or ingredients firm that is leading in various aspects of sustainability. The company is displaying overall leadership in sustainability and not mastering a few areas.

 

Sustainable Packaging Finalists:​ Laboratoires Expanscience, Seventh Generation, You Organic Skincare

This award is given to a cosmetics brand / packaging firm with a new packaging that has low environmental footprint in terms of design and / or materials.

 

Sustainable Ingredient Finalists:​ Alban Muller International, AkzoNobel Surface Chemistry, International Flavors & Fragrances

This award is given to a cosmetic ingredient that makes a significant difference in sustainability, in terms of environmental and / or social impact.

 

Green Formulations Finalists:​ Alteya Organics, Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps, Jasmin Skincare

This award is given to a cosmetic brand with a high level of green (natural / organic) ingredients in product formulations.

Organic Monitor says it will announce the winners of each category at a reception held in the Paris Marriott Champs Elysées hotel on October 21st​, which will be held off the back of the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit​.
