Statfold Seed Oil is appealing to the positive brand image of fruit with the addition of several fruit seed oils to its personal care range.

The UK-based supplier is targeting its new cranberry, raspberry, strawberry, chia and pomegranate oils at natural and organic manufacturers.

Familiarity of fruits

Company director Julie Noon told CosmeticsDesign.com that the ingredients would appeal to consumers because they already carry positive and natural associations.

Noon said the products also play an important role in cosmetic formulations delivering nutrients to the body from the outside.

Specific properties

Strawberry oil for example contains essential fatty acids including Omega 3, 6 and 9 while raspberry boasts anti-ageing effects and pomegranate contains punic acid which has anti cancer potential.

The oils are suitable for use in a broad range of products from lip gloss to hair conditioner.

Processing of oils

All the oils are extracted without the use of chemicals or solvents at low temperatures which helps produce low peroxide values.

The expelled oils are then passed through a low pressure plate filter which extracts all the sediments down to five microns giving the oil a clear and shiny appearance.
