The France-based subsidiary of Vion will be marketing the newly acquired ingredients at the food, beverage and cosmetic industries alongside its existing range of hydrolyzed collagen.
Going for growth
"The acquisition of this range is in keeping with our external growth strategy aimed at rapidly strengthening our position in our targeted growth markets," said Laurent Weber, Rousselot's vice-president for sales and marketing.
"The PEPTAN range complements our existing product range, enabling us to offer new grades of collagen to the nutrition, health and beauty sectors."
Skin care applications
Hydrolyzed collagen is used in cosmetics to tackle the signs of skin aging and improve moisture levels in the skin.
In hair care applications, hydrolyzed collagens may also be used to strengthen hair structure through polymer cross-linking.
Food and beverage uses
In the nutritional sector, hydrolyzed collagen may be added to protein beverages, bars and health foods.
Rousselot said its specific distribution of amino-acids may increases bone mass density and can alleviate joint pain.
The company said it also provides a longer feeling of satiety that helps people manage their weight better.
Besides hydrolyzed collagen, Rousselot also produces gelatin for the food and pharmaceutical industries.
