Makeup in Paris opens next month
A month ahead of this year’s edition of the Makeup in Paris trade show, we take a look at some of the highlights planned for the event.

Its eighth edition, this year’s show at the Carrousel du Louvre on 22 & 23 June is set to welcome over 160 exhibitors across the supply chain of makeup and skin care subcontractors.

With exhibition space dedicated to ingredients and packaging, last year’s event welcomed 3200 visitors, and the organisers note that the show has acted as a springboard for many startups in the industry.

Innovation in focus

A key feature for the show is its Innovation Tree product competition, and organisers state that a total of 42 companies have submitted 87 products this year across ingredients, textures, liquid or encapsulated formulas.

The jury is comprised of some major figures in the industry:

  • Florence Bernardin, founder of the Information & Inspiration Company, an expert in Asian cosmetic, beauty and well-being trends

  • Lucille Gauthier, Beauty Consultant, styles and Innovation Consulting Firm, Pecler’s Paris

  • Charles-Emmanuel Gounod, founder of the Consulting Firm Beautyworld Connections

  • Jean-Louis Mathiez, founder of the Cinqpats Company, a firm specialized in cosmetic packaging innovation

  • Luisa Oliva, an International consultant in cosmetics and expert in formulation

  • Serge German, Director of the Ecole Européenne de Packaging (ESEPAC)

  • Gerald Martines, founder and Manager of the consulting firm In.signes specialised in marketing and innovation for premium beauty products

3-D printing: where’s it going?

Another central focus at the show is set to be 3D printing, with the process expected to see a growth of around 25% per year until 2020, according to show organisers.

On Friday, June 23, from 11:15 am to 12:00 pm, the show will feature a roundtable event themed “3D, an industrial reality in the beauty world”, moderated by Charles-Emmanuel Gounod, Beautyworld Connexions.

As part of the roundtable, Arnault Coulet, Director of Fabulous.com, a Consulting Firm in 3D printing, will present on the technical principles of additive manufacturing, the major competitive advantages that can be expected, the key market figures and the question of associated economic models.

The panel will also feature Andy Gatesy, Chairman and CEO of Toly Products and Romain Striffling, Innovation Director of PSB Industries / Texen.
