Lipotec’s new moisturising ingredient Xpertmoist promises to restore skin health even in cases of extreme dryness.

According to the Spanish-based ingredients supplier the product is a molecular film that helps prevent and repairs damage to the skin caused by dramatic transepidermal water loss.

Products such as body milks or face creams can benefit from the Xpertmoist ingredient when a high hydration level is required, said the company.

In addition, the company claims the ingredient can soften the severe hard skin often found on the heels and soles of feet.

Applying a 7 percent Xpertmoist cream twice daily was deemed by 95 per cent of volunteers to soften and hydrate their skin, according to Lipotec.

Anti-ageing and exfoliating ingredients

Xpertmoist is the latest in a number of new releases from the company.

Early March, Lipotec launched an anti-ageing ingredient which aims to stop the degradation of collagen and therefore preserve skin flexibility.

Product manager Cristina Davi told CosmeticsDesign.com: "Vilastene blocks the glycation of proteins by inhibiting the Maillard reaction. This spontaneous, non-enzmatic reaction leads to a modification of side chain residues of proteins, and consequently to cross-linking and skin ageing."

In addition, a combined moisturising and exfoliating ingredient was launched back in January called Peelmoist.

Using an enzyme present in papaya called papain, the ingredient accelerates (desquamation the shedding of skin cells).

The ingredient also contains moisturising factors to help it hydrate the skin after the papain has exfoliated.
