L'Oreal has dedicated a section on its website to existing and
prospective suppliers, detailing the company values and policies.

The area was created to help build an understanding of what L'Oreal looks for and expects from its suppliers. It also explains the different roles of the L'Oreal departments that are in contact with suppliers and how they interact with each other. This informs potential suppliers about who they need to contact and what they will demand of them. The first part of the supplier zone describes the values that suppliers must hold in order to work with L'Oreal. These include business integrity, innovation and sustainable development among others. In another sub-section the company goes into more detail on sustainability explaining its commitment to responsible sourcing and how that manifests itself in practice. Network for suppliers Following on from values is the "L'Oreal Network for Suppliers", which is divided according to activity such as raw materials, packaging and outsourcing partnerships. Each sub-section explains which departments in the company work with suppliers in these areas. It also clarifies the goals of, for example, L'Oreal Research or Purchasing, and gives suppliers an idea of their needs and desires. Assessment of suppliers The next section then explains how L'Oreal assesses it suppliers. It explains how its decisions rest on five pillars; quality, competitiveness, corporate social responsibility, design innovation and logistics services. L'Oreal said it regularly assesses suppliers on these criteria in order to establish long-lasting and transparent relationships. The supplier zone also contains a description of the process by which companies can become L'Oreal suppliers. The world's biggest cosmetics company divides this into four steps from making contact to the operations phase to inform prospective suppliers about how they do business.
