Called Mackaderm, the line answers increasing industry demands for skin care ingredients that are highly functional, easy to formulate and that are gentle enough to be left on the skin for longer periods of time.
Ultimately the line is aimed at skin care formulators, particularly in the color cosmetics, sun care, moisturizer and anti-aging categories, where products are applied and often left in contact with the skin all day.
"Mackaderm was created as a logical extension of our existing competency as a supplier of mild solutions for skin and hair cleansing and conditioning," said Todd Nelmark, president of McIntyre Group.
The line consists of what the companies term 'performance-enhancing' additives that aim to provide a significant advantage to cosmetic formulators.
This comes about because the multifunctional Mackaderm products include emollients, emulsifiers, opacifying esters, hydrating agents and micro-emulsion blends.
The line also features Abitec Captex naturally derived emollient esters.
The companies say that in recent months they have built further on a product portfolio delivering ingredients that answer the functionality and texture requirements of cosmetic formulators.
"Our joint technical efforts with McIntyre to offer the skin care technology surrounding our naturally based emollients will provide new insight on some of these traditional materials," said Abitec director of sales, Lori Saviers.
"Also, we expect that having our more innovative products offered in the Mackaderm line will more effectively bring their message to the skin care market," she added.
Illinois-based McIntyre has built up it reputation as a global supplier of surfactants to the personal care industry, while Abitec, which is also based in Illinois has built up its reputations as a global supplier of emollients and emulsifiers for the personal care.
The companies says that the fact that they are now increasingly working together as part of a natural progression that combines their two different areas of specialization, which often co-exist together within formulation requirements.
