The company, which supplies fine chemicals for the cosmetics, food and pharmaceuticals industries, is preparing to take its latest range of cosmetics ingredients beyond the domestic market in Germany.
This will see its Dermotec UV, Dermotec EF and Dermotec 450 and DHA ingredients being extended into the US market and then into the UK markets, with the help of distribution agreements.
Dermotec UV distribution
Currently the company is concentrating on expanding the distribution of its Dermotec UV ingredient, a multifunctional UV skin protecting agent, which is now being distributed in the UK through Safic-Alcan.
The ingredient has radical scavenging properties as well as powerful UVA absorption capabilities which can help boost the efficacy of suncare formulations.
Indeed, the company says that clinical tests show that the UV-absorption rate of Dermotec UV is around 30 per cent higher than other commonly used sunscreen ingredients such as benzophenone-3 and octyl methoxycinnamate.
UV protection and after-sun properties
Likewise, BMP says that the ingredient is also particularly effective when combined in after sun or anti-ageing products as it helps to soothe UV-radiation burns as well as helping to repair damage that can cause wrinkling.
The ingredient has already been included in one finished suncare product marketed by Swiss company Rahn, but now BMP wants to encourage a more international take-up for the product.
