Targeting increased demand for high-performance ingredients
The Cognis-owned supplier said greater demand for high-performance active ingredients in cosmetics was a driving force behind the decision to invest in the site.
Improved research and development facilities will help the company respond to this increased demand for sophisticated ingredients.
“If we are to leverage our R&D expertise and in-depth understanding of the market for cosmetic actives, then we need state-of-the-art production technology and higher capacity,” said Laboratoires Sérobiologiques business director Salvatore Gargano.
Improving efficiency and reducing environmental impact
The other principle aims of the project are to improve the environmental soundness of the site and streamline the production processes so as to improve efficiency.
Lowering energy consumption is a high priority of the green orientated changes that are designed to facilitate compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for cosmetics.
Laboratoires Sérobiologique's marketing manager Isabelle Benoit said: “We are constantly looking to improve our efficiency and create an environment in which new ideas and technologies can be developed.
“At the same time we want to guarantee long-term sustainability at all levels. This investment will allow us to further increase customer satisfaction with our levels of quality, responsiveness and innovation.”
Laboratoires Sérobiologiques expects to complete the improvements to the Pulnoy site in 2010.
