Sustainable Personal and Fabric Care Asia highlights market and ingredients trends

In addition to sustainable developments. the key topics to be covered at the Sustainable Personal and Fabric Care Asia conference in Shanghai on 21 and 22 June 2012 are ingredient innovations and supply issues, together with market outlook and consumer insights.

Conference organiser Advantique Group notes that Asia holds strong growth opportunities for the personal care and fabric care industries, with fast rising economies such as Indonesia, Vietnam and Cambodia on the radar of many consumer products companies alongside the major markets of India and China.

The comprehensive conference programme at the event features speakers from companies including Beiersdorf, Hindustan Unilever and Reckitt Benckiser, who will provide insights into various product categories, ingredients and markets.

Skin care and hair care products and markets

Vivek Sirohi, vice president of R&D operations for South Asia at Hindustan Unilever, will provide an outlook on the home and personal care market in India. Points to be examined include emerging trends and consumer behavior, sustainability and green concerns and new formulations and regulatory hurdles.

Meanwhile, Tom Wang, R&D director for hair care at Beiersdorf, will discuss opportunities and challenges in the hair care market along with drivers for change. He will also detail technological advancements in hair care products and their impact on ingredients.

Three of the presentations lined up as part of the conference program will look at different product categories in selected markets, shining the spotlight on cosmetics trends and innovations in China, new trends for skin care products in Korea and hair care advancements and trends in Japan.

 

Ingredients sourcing strategies and challenges

 

On the ingredients front, Samrat Sehgal, procurement manager for raw materials at Reckitt Benckiser (India), is a panelist in a discussion about strategies and challenges related to ingredients sourcing. During the session, he is set to tackle issues including raw material cost management and important considerations when selecting materials.

 

Ingredients supplier Seppic is to discuss innovation and development of sugar-based surfactants, while the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) is to provide an update on the status of the Malaysian palm oil industry, opportunities for oleochemicals and current MPOB research in surfactants.

 

Cristobal Galder, R&D director for Asia at Rhodia Novecare Asia, will also be looking at surfactants, covering the future and market outlook of vegetable-based surfactants and prospects for world supply and demand.
