International beauty giant L’Oréal has announced a change in the leadership of its Luxe division, with the appointment of a new deputy general manager.

The company has announced that Cyril Chapuy will be taking up the role, in charge of International Brands.

L’Oréal says that its ‘steady growth’ over the past five years has led to the company taking on an increasing number of brands in its portfolio.

This, coupled with new challenges and market opportunities within the industry, has led it to create the new role of deputy GM in L’Oréal Luxe for its international brands, the company said in a statement.

Chapuy will report to Nicolas Hieronimus.

Experienced appointment

Chapuy brings a strong history of experience in the beauty industry to the role, having worked across L’Oréal brands over a 24 year career.

He joined L’Oréal Paris as Product Manager in 1993, Cyril CHAPUY joined LaScad and subsequently

Gemey Maybelline France as Head of Marketing before heading the Consumer Division in Brazil.

He later took over the General Management of the Maybelline international marketing team in New York from 2005 to 2010. Since then he is head of L’Oréal Paris, the Group’s leading brand.

“Cyril Chapuy is widely recognized in the Group for his vision, his strategic and marketing competency, his flair for visuals and brands, and his advertising talent,” the company stated.

L’Oréal: major player

L’Oréal’s international portfolio is made up of 32 brands, and the Group generated sales amounting to 25.26 billion euros in 2015. It employs 82,900 people worldwide.

The multinational is present across all distribution networks: mass market, department stores, pharmacies and drugstores, hair salons, travel retail, branded retail and e-commerce, with its Luxe division spread across these.

Its Luxe brands are: Lancome, Giorgio Armani, Yves Saint Laurent Beauté, Biotherm, Kiehl’s, Ralph Lauren, Shu Uemura, Cacharel, Helena Rubinstein, Clarisonic, Diesel, Viktor&Rolf, Yue Sai, Maison Margiela, Urban Decay, Guy Laroche, Paloma Picasso and Proenza Schouler.
