Induchem is set to present its' research around the evaluation of skin delta opioid receptors and the stimulation of hair follicle stem cells in reactivating hair growth at this year's IFSCC scientific committee.

The 28th edition of the IFSCC Congress, dedicated to cosmetic innovation and beauty performance will feature six international keynote speakers, 72 oral communications, and two workshops will offer you a global view of the cosmetic sciences.

Below, Cosmetics Design outlines what Induchem's presentations will be touching on at this year's event from the 27th - 30th October.

Presentation on skin delta opioid receptors: October 30th

Title: "Opioid Receptor Delta as a global modulator of skin differentiation and barrier functions”

Recent studies suggest that Opioid Receptors are not only implicated in pain control, but also in the maintenance of skin cells homeostasis.

According to Induchem, this research has revealed an important role in human epidermis of Opioid Receptors Delta in the control of cell differentiation, migration, and cytokines expressions.

Based on recent studies (showing modulation of cytokines expression and significant atrophy of the epidermis of knock out mice for Delta Opioid Receptors), we hypothesized that Delta Opioid Receptors are a key biological targets for repair of damaged skin and for the control of skin ageing.

Both of these kinds of skin are known to have a micro-inflammation environment with poor skin barrier properties and a thin epidermis.

"In our studies, we demonstrated the specific agonist properties of two peptides toward Opioid Receptors Delta (OPRD) and the location of OPRD in the epidermis. Then, we confirmed our assumption of the key role of Opioid Receptors Delta and their agonists in maintenance of epidermis homeostasis," Dr H. Chajra explains.

Hair loss research will be exhibited throughout the three days

Title: "Activation of outer root sheath cells and dermal papilla fibroblasts to reverse androgenetic alopecia hair loss"

According to Induchem, the epithelial-mesenchymal interactions between keratinocyte stem cells, in particular Outer root sheath cells (ORSc in the bulge region) and dermal papilla fibroblasts cells (DPc in the bulb region) are crucial for normal development of the hair follicle as well as during hair cycling.

Hair cycle comprises three distinct phases anagen, catagen and telogen. During the cyclical regrowth of a new lower follicle, the multipotent hair follicle stem cells (ORSc) are stimulated to proliferate and differentiate through interactions with the underlying mesenchymal DPc.

In hair loss pathogenesis the hair cycle is perturbed. Therefore, factors such actives affecting the functions of ORSc and DPc are of great importance in hair loss therapeutic strategy.

Literature data have described the benefit effect of green tea polyphenols on DPc proliferation and on hair follicle growth. Based on this finding we decided to propose a new ingredient combining by Green tea derived polyphenols and Larix wood derived polyphenols.
