Caldic expands silicones capabilities for cosmetics with acquisition
Based in Vancey, Eastern France, the business will now be relocated to Caldic’s manufacturing facility in Lyon, with the aim of maximizing on synergies and cost savings.
Caldic says that the acquisition will serve to strengthen its position as a full service provider of innovative products to a cross section of industries in North America, Europe and Asia, including cosmetics, personal care and food and beverage, while also adding to its emphasis on total services.
Strengthening Caldic's silicones portfolio
Specifically, the acquisition will serve to strengthen the Calsil silicone brand by combining with RoRe Technologies’ long-established expertise in silicone preparations, where it serves both the cosmetics and food industries.
RoRe Technologies existing silicones portfolio will now be combined into the Caldic portfolio to offer simple silicone solutions under its Calsil private label, a move the company says will serve to leverage its capabilities.

Silicones under the spotlight
Although silicones have come under the spotlight because they are non-biodegradable, they continue to be in high demand for personal care because there are deemed to be few solutions that offer the same kind of properties.
In personal care they are used in the hair care category, where they are specified in conditioners, shampoos, and hair gel products where they are said to provide excellent conditioning properties, as well as providing increased compatibility, feel and softness.
